Orthodontic Anchorage and Mini Implants for Orthodontics
On many occasions Dr. Lem works in conjunction with an orthodontist to assist in the repositioning of teeth for both aesthetics and function. When an orthodontist is having difficulty moving a tooth or teeth they will contact Dr. Lem to do what is known as ortho anchorage or mini implants. Ortho anchorage is the placement of small plates and screw that are placed in the jaw bone with a small end left protruding from the gum tissue so that the orthodontist can place rubber bands to reposition teeth. The latest development for this procedure is known as the mini implant. Mini implants are small screws that are placed into the jawbone so the orthodontist can place rubber bands to reposition the teeth. Mini implants are less invasive and have a rapid recovery time.

News & Events

Stem cells are cells found in most, if not all, multi-cellular organisms. They are characterized by the ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and differentiating into a diverse range of specialized cell types.

A research suggests that coating dental implants with a synthetic bone material prior to implantation allows such implant to become incorporated much more successfully into the jaw, leading to smiles all round.

The results of experiments that focused on 'nanostructures'demonstrated enhanced bone response to dental implants as soon as 4 weeks after implant placement.
